True confessions - blue is my favorite color. Love everything from dark indigo to pale aqua. And other people love blue too! Did you know its the world’s favorite color? And blue ends up being a perfect color for Hawaii interiors. It is crisp, clean and calming and of course, mirrors the sea and sky. Blue works well in every room of the home, as well as, outdoors. And its pretty easy to find lots of blue items for your home right now.

  • A blue island base in a light wood or white kitchen

  • Replacing bedding with a blue and white scheme looks so calm and inviting

  • Art and accessories that echo the sea and sky are easy additions to any island home

And don’t be afraid to mix blue tones together. Dark and light, pale and intense. In my view, it’s hard to make mistakes with blue.

Indigo and White - A deep blue against crisp white is classic. So I pair it often with a British Colonial or Tommy Bahama Plantation style. It works well with honey toned woods, natural wovens as well as dark hardwoods.

Aqua - Whether bright or subtle, this color is soothing to the eye. It works perfectly in Hawaii to create that relaxed beachy look. Using aqua colored glass finishes and shell accessories emphasizes that casual ocean vibe.
